One group resented the more straitlaced players (later called the "Clean Sox"), a group that included players like second baseman Eddie Collins, a graduate of Columbia College of Columbia University catcher Ray Schalk, and pitchers Red Faber and Dickey Kerr. The White Sox clubhouse was divided into two factions. In the era of the reserve clause, gamblers could find players on many teams looking for extra cash-and they did. In fact, Chicago had the largest team payroll in 1919. Comiskey was probably no worse than most owners. Written by: Daniel Carey, Adam Jones, Maynard James Keenan, Paul M D'amour I hope the danger pulls you under and destroys you I hope the danger is overwhelming and destroys you Your lack of common sense and stubbornness lead you to danger Your stubbornness and foolishness put you in this situation You have no one to blame but yourself for the predicament you're in Why don't you remove yourself from harm's way while you still have the chance? You continue to struggle and suffer, despite the risks You put yourself in danger without any real reason to be there The consequences of your actions may lead to your destruction I hope the danger overwhelms and destroys you I hope it sucks you down, down, down, down When you are foolish, stubborn, and belligerent, you're more likely to put yourself in danger The situation you're in is dangerous and as risky as being lost in a swamp Why don't you take precautions to avoid harm? Why don't you pay attention to the risks you're taking? You are oblivious to the danger that surrounds you Your ignorance of my warning puts you in harm's way The song's chorus repeats the warnings and emphasizes the danger of the bog, while the verses describe the speaker's frustration. The speaker's warnings are based on a belief that the person they are speaking to is not using their common sense and is being reckless in their actions. The bog is a dangerous place that is easy to get lost in, and the speaker emphasizes the importance of being cautious and watching where one is going. The metaphor of the bog serves as a warning to the person who is ignoring the speaker's advice. The speaker is warning the person that the bog is thick and easy to get lost in, especially for a "stupid, dumb ass, belligerent fucker." The speaker expresses the hope that the person gets sucked down and does not come back again. He emphasizes that they are wading deeper and deeper into the bog. The speaker warns the person that they are dancing in quicksand and that they should watch where they are going. Likewise, if bonding with another Sulfur atom, there would be a polarity of zero and no one atom would attract the electrons because the atoms are of the same radius and size. In addition, if Sulfur was to be in a covalent bond, depending on the electronegativity of the other element, the electrons would probably be closer to the nucleus of Sulfur. This means that if in a ionic bond Sulfur has the ability to take the electrons away from the metal. Sulfur is a nonmetal and has a high electronegativity of 2.58. In addition, nonmetals have higher electronegativities so when they are bonding with a metal, they have the ability to take the electron completely, not sharing it like a covalent bond but becoming an ionic bond. If the covalent bond is between two identical atoms, with the same electronegativity, then there will be no pull and the bond will be non-polar covalent. Sulfur electron configuration, Ne3s2 3p4 atomic radius pm, 88 covalent radius pm, 102 specific heat J g-1K-1, 0,71 heat of fusion kJ mol-1, 1. In this case, it would make the bond, polar covalent. If this is true then the shared bonding pair of electrons in the covalent bond, will be closer to the nucleus of that elemental atom. When in a covalent bond, one of the elements may have a higher electronegativity. There are many different types of bonds that are related to electronegativity. However, as you move across the periodic table you see that the electronegativity increases, because the radius is decreasing and the attraction is stronger between the electrons and the nucleus. ![]() If the radius increases then the attraction between the nucleus also decreases and the strength of that atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons will decrease, thus having low electronegativity. As you go down the periodic table groups, the electronegativity decreases because electronegativity is directly related to atomic radius, more than atomic number. Electronegativity is the ability for an atom to attract a bonding pair of electrons. This is a factor when it comes to bonding. ![]() Archived from the original on September 18, 2017. You have a lil guy who needs to get from point A to point B in standard platforming fashion however, there are puzzles scattered throughout the levels that are voice-activated/controlled, making for some pretty unique gameplay.Īnd while a microphone is required to play, a beautiful singing voice isn’t - in fact, sometimes the sillier you sound, the more entertaining it is.Īs a concept, One Hand Clapping is extremely cool. At first it’s fairly simplistic, such as sustaining a note or singing a high note to force an elevator to go up or a low note to descend. As the levels progress, the puzzles get increasingly more complex, with portions requiring players to hit specific keys at specific times, sing to the beat, and so on. ![]() There are music games, there are rhythm games, and then there is One Hand Clapping - something altogether new. One Hand Clapping does a lot of things right, from its beautifully crafted world that convey a variety of moods and emotions to its difficulty scaling that allows anyone to play even if they can’t carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it. ![]() Even its music, which would normally be a pretty prominent and powerful force in music games, takes a backseat to allow the player’s voice to shine through, which was an extremely smart move on the developers’ part. On paper, One Hand Clapping is nothing short of genius: a simple concept with a surprise novelty that entertains no matter how good the player is at singing. With that being said, I couldn’t shrug off one aspect of One Hand Clapping, and that was… well, the platforming part. Worth repeating, the voice controls are nothing short of spectacular as a sucker for novelty in games, picking up this game based on concept alone was a no-brainer. But should that mechanic be taken out, One Hand Clapping goes from a neat, quirky idea to an average and slow platformer. It wasn’t just in the fact that gameplay takes some time getting used to (there’s a lot of milling about as you slooooowly figure out the right notes to press buttons, move objects, etc.), but that character movement is relaxed at best and sluggish at worst. It’s not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it’s worth mentioning that the selling point isn’t excitement.Įven in the occasional chase scenes that provide the rare boost of adrenaline, you’ll be ambling along at the normal pace you were without danger present. Of course, if you were interested in One Hand Clapping, you knew what the selling point was: voice controls. |
